Alfons Miettinen stays consistent in chaotic MotorLand Aragon round
On his first visit to MotorLand Aragon, Alfons Miettinen picked up where he left off at Portimao, making the most out of the limited green flag racing to continue his upwards trajectory and finish just outside the top 20 at the third round of the highly competitive Spanish F4 Championship.
Determined to bounce back from Portimao, where he showed strong resilience while battling technical issues, Alfons Miettinen moved to MotorLand Aragon to continue his rookie campaign in the Spanish F4 Championship with experienced Spanish outfit GRS Team.
Alfons had a steady start to the weekend, as he learned the Spanish venue across testing and the first two practice sessions on Friday, as he bridged the gap to the more experienced rest of the field, who had driven the track in the winter in both testing and the Spanish Winter Championship.
On Saturday morning, Alfons matched his season-best qualifying of 29th, before staying out of trouble in the first race of the weekend, amid various safety car interventions, to cross the line in 27th, but was later moved up to 22nd after post-race penalties were applied.
In the second race, held later that day, Alfons made good progress from his 30th-place starting position, as he fought valiantly to move up the order in the early stages, before jumping to 25th with a handful of minutes on the clock and maintaining the position as the checkered flag waved.
The second qualifying session of the weekend was up next on Sunday morning, in which Alfons set the 31st-fastest time. In the third and final race of the weekend later, Alfons drove a steady and clean race to take 28th on the road, before being promoted to 26th to round out a positive weekend for the young Finnish driver.
A promising weekend for Alfons, who looks to improve on his results in two months’ time at Circuito del Jarama on 22–23 August for the fourth round of the 2026 Spanish F4 Championship.
