Alfons Miettinen achieves career-best result at Navarra
At the second-to-last round of the Spanish F4 Championship at Navarra, Alfons Miettinen enjoyed a positive weekend at Navarra, in which he finally broke through to take his first top 20 finish in his rookie season in the highly competitive series.
Following a promising weekend at Jerez, Alfons Miettinen headed to Navarra for the sixth and penultimate round of the Spanish F4 Championship with series mainstay GRS Team to build on his early season promises and end the year on a high noted.
Starting the weekend with Friday’s testing and free practice sessions, Alfons began to get to grips with the track as he navigated through wet conditions and mechanical problems, the latter of which forcing unscheduled fixes on the car ahead of the two days of racing action.
With the repaired car, Alfons had a difficult first qualifying of the weekend on Saturday morning, but made up for it in the first race, in which he stayed out of trouble and took advantage of post-race penalties to bolster up to a 22nd-place finish. The second race commenced later that Saturday. From 29th on the grid, Alfons made the most of limited green flag racing to finish 27th.
On Sunday morning, Alfons headed into the second qualifying session of the weekend, where he set the 30th-fastest time. In the third and final race of the weekend, the young Finn gained five places in the opening laps, before jumping to 23rd in the closing stages and maintaining his position as the checkered flag waved. Following the race, Alfons took advantage of post-race penalties to move up to 19th in the final classification to secure his best result of the season.
A stellar weekend for Alfons, who heads to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya next month for the final round of the 2026 F4 Spanish Championship, on 6–8 November, as he aims to end his rookie season on a high.
